The interactive workshop aims to deepen knowledge and enhance practice around child exploitation and gangs.

A half day workshop for professionals who work with children and young people. The online session looks at youth violence and extremism.  BRAVE (Building Resilience Against Violence & Extremism) is an in depth workshop run by St Giles and Connect Futures. Using lived experience both organisations work with vulnerable young people involved or at risk of serious violence, gangs, county lines, extremism and other types of criminal exploitation. 

The session:

- Teaches practical tools and techniques to build young people's resilience to exploitation by gangs and extremist group.
- Combines impact of violent extremism and gang exploitation and grooming techniques used by exploitative groups.
- Dispels myths and glamorisation relating to gang exploitation and violent extremism.
- Looks at how perpetrators recruit young people, including online & through gaming, and what adults can do to help young people to stay safe.
- Provides greater awareness of the realities and issues surrounding gang involvement, drugs, violence, extremism and radicalisation, and learn about strategies to help young people avoid the risk of becoming involved in these activities. 
 

A Note about Groups:

  • Group A training is for people who are in contact with or work regularly with children and young people and with their parents/carers
  • Group B training is for people who work regularly with children and young people and adults who are parents/carers and may have particular responsibility for safeguarding children
  • Group C training is for designated safeguarding leads and managers in organisations employing staff to work with children and families or with responsibility for commissioning or delivering services.

This course is for colleagues that fall into groups A, B and C.
