Aim of the course:
This half day course is centred around Working with Men - including Dads and other significant men in families in the context of strengthening family relationships.
This thought-provoking session is intended to help frontline practitioners think about the role of fathers and other significant menĀ (partners, carers, stepfathers, grandads, and uncles, etc), and how to engage and work with them more confidently.
By the end of the course, delegates will:
- understand why it is important to include men in family interventions,
- understand how children specifically benefit when male figures are included in their support,
- have explored how men feel about working with public sector practitioners,
- understand our lived and professional barriers that prevent us encouraging male engagement, andĀ
- will have learned how to use tools and strategies that can help us include men in our work.
Whilst open to multiagency practitioners who are working with children and/or families, delegates undertaking this course will be expected to have undertaken a basic safeguarding course.
