Aim of the course:
This full day, one-to-one parenting resource is practitioner guided. It’s designed for use with Dads and other significant males with caring responsibilities for a child aged up to 18 years of age, and focuses on increasing parenting skills, confidence and self-esteem.
By the end of the course, delegates will:
- understand the role of men and their unique contribution when parenting children,
- have learned how to use the iCAN resource, strategies and tools,
- recognise why some parents lack confidence in their parenting role, and
- will know how to provide individualised family communication plans based on a child’s age and stage of development.
A Note about Groups:
- Group A training is for people who are in contact with or work regularly with children and young people and with their parents/carers
- Group B training is for people who work regularly with children and young people and adults who are parents/carers and may have particular responsibility for safeguarding children
- Group C training is for designated safeguarding leads and managers in organisations employing staff to work with children and families or with responsibility for commissioning or delivering services.
This course is for colleagues that fall into groups B and C.
