Aim of the course:

This course aims to provide participants with an overview of the preparation for and contribution to CP conferences, the purpose of CP plans and how these are supported by the core group meetings.

By the end of the course participants will:

  • understand the purpose of CP conferences,
  • have knowledge of CP thresholds, what is significant harm and the categories of abuse,
  • have explored Hackney's CP Framework; a strength based and trauma informed model,
  • know what is expected of a professional prior to, and during the conference meeting, and how to enact the plan,
  • learn the importance of capturing the child's voice, and ways to involve children in CP conferences,
  • understand CP plans and how to write goal focused objectives which achieve set outcomes,
  • learn the purpose of core group meetings, and 
  • understand the reviewing and escalation process.

A Note about Groups:

  • Group A training is for people who are in contact with or work regularly with children and young people and with their parents/carers
  • Group B training is for people who work regularly with children and young people and adults who are parents/carers and may have particular responsibility for safeguarding children
  • Group C training is for designated safeguarding leads and managers in organisations employing staff to work with children and families or with responsibility for commissioning or delivering services.

This course is for colleagues that fall into groups A, B and C.
