CHSCP: Group C - LADO: Completing Internal Employment-Based Investigations

Aim of the course:

This course specifically targets Designated Safeguarding Leads, Line Managers, Supervisors. It aims to provide employers and managers with guidance and advice on how to conduct internal employment-based risk investigations where concerns have been raised about a worker’s professional conduct, or issues in their private life. The course also provides tools to utilise and suggestions of issues to consider, so that internal investigations can be done effectively and collaboratively with employees, to reduce any potential risk to children and increase safety for the employee and employer. 

By the end of the course delegates will:

• understand the purpose of Internal Investigations and how to complete these thoroughly and effectively,
• have increased understanding of how to sequence internal investigations and manage issues of confidentiality and risk,
• understand how to conduct Internal Investigations in a non-leading and impartial manner, which reach impactful and reasonable recommendations to increase safety in the work place, and
• have increased understanding of the impact of Internal Investigations and potential employment implications.

A Note about Groups:

• Group A training is for people who are in contact with or work regularly with children and young people and with their parents/carers
• Group B training is for people who work regularly with children and young people and adults who are parents/carers and may have particular responsibility for safeguarding children
• Group C training is for designated safeguarding leads and managers in organisations employing staff to work with children and families or with responsibility for commissioning or delivering services.

This course is for colleagues that fall into group C.
