CHSCP: Group B/C - Parenting Apart: Improving the Relationship and Communication between Separated Co-Parents

Aim of the course:
A one day face-to-face training course that aims to teach practitioners working with separated parents the Parenting Apart 6-session programme. This structured resource has the tools and strategies to address co-parenting dynamic difficulties where children are affected. The resource will also support parents to build stronger and healthier co-parenting relationships.
A digital resource is made available post course, although delegates will need to make arrangements to collect the physical resource within a week of the course start date. This will be used throughout the training session.
By the end of the course, delegates will:
- understand the impact of separated parental conflict on outcomes for children,
- understand how children are specifically affected by their parents challenging relationship,
- know how to support a parent with the challenges of the co-parenting relationship, and
- know how to use the sessions to promote the emotional welfare of children. the ability to support children to understand feelings and behaviours.
A Note about Groups:
- Group A training is for people who are in contact with or work regularly with children and young people and with their parents/carers
- Group B training is for people who work regularly with children and young people and adults who are parents/carers and may have particular responsibility for safeguarding children
- Group C training is for designated safeguarding leads and managers in organisations employing staff to work with children and families or with responsibility for commissioning or delivering services.
This course is for colleagues that fall into groups B and C.
