Aim of the course:
The Modern Slavery Act 2015 is designed to tackle slavery in the UK and consolidates previous offences relating to trafficking and slavery.
The courseĀ will raise, and have an awareness of, Modern Slavery/Trafficking, which involves the exploitation of people/children who are coerced, deceived, forced into, or expected to accept, a life of abuse, servitude or inhumane and degrading treatment.
By the end of the session, participants will:
- understand the different forms of Modern Slavery under the Modern Slavery Act 2015,
- understand the Government Strategy and legal framework for the Modern Slavery Act 2015,
- understand how victims become involved in slavery,
- be able to identify locations and signs that indicates modern slavery,
- have explored health risks and work with victims of modern slavery, and
- have knowledge of the referral process and available resources.
A Note about Groups:
- Group A training is for people who are in contact with or work regularly with children and young people and with their parents/carers
- Group B training is for people who work regularly with children and young people and adults who are parents/carers and may have particular responsibility for safeguarding children
- Group C training is for designated safeguarding leads and managers in organisations employing staff to work with children and families or with responsibility for commissioning or delivering services.
This course is for colleagues that fall into groups A, B and C.
